Asian airplane sales set to rocket

The world’s two largest aircraft manufacturers have announced that the Asian market is set for an incredible growth spurt in the coming years. The Asia-Pacific region will dwarf other areas of the world in terms of aircraft sales as over 8,000 planes will find buyers within the next two decades. The total sales are estimated to be worth $1.2 trillion (or £748 billion).

Boeing’s vice president, Randy Tinseth, who is soon to launch the new A380 giant air carrier, commented on the announcement: “We think that the Asia-Pacific region will definitely lead in the recovery we see in aviation. Long term, this is the biggest potential market in terms of demand of any region in the world; 31% of all units, 35% of value.”

It is not only the Asian market that is set for a resurgence after a tough few years, with the two manufacturers estimating global sales of some 25,000 aircraft in the coming years, worth an incredible $3.1 trillion.

It is another sign that the world’s economy is rising again after and gaining in confidence, and if other industries start to follow suit, then the dark days of 2007-2009 may be nothing but a distant memory soon…
