Gatwick Departing

Gatwick Airport – Departing

For those travelling by air from Gatwick Airport, transport to the airport is pretty convenient. A number of public transport links serve Gatwick, including many connecting to the city of London.

By train, the Gatwick Express, Southern Trains and First Capital Connect services all get you to the airport well within an hour, from various locations within London. Several bus and coach services also operate, including easy Bus and National Express. By car, you can reach Gatwick via the M23 motorway, and the M25 orbital is just a short drive away, linking in to the national network.

Gatwick’s terminal forecourts have dedicated drop-off areas, so you can drop passengers/ be dropped here as long as the vehicle does not wait. For picking up, or for waiting at all, you need to use the Short Stay car park, which offers a cheaper 15-minute tariff. Gatwick’s Short Stay car parks are located within easy reach of the terminal buildings, so you don’t have a long walk to the Check-in desk.

For those planning to leave a vehicle at Gatwick for any length, the Long Stay car parks are secure and offer better value for money over long periods.

If you’re looking for a more personalised and convenient service, Gatwick operates a valet parking service from selected points in the forecourts of both terminals. Also, fast track parking options are available within the Short Stay car parks.

You should aim to arrive in plenty of time for your flight, remembering to allow additional time for getting through security and travelling to your designated departure area. For domestic flights it is recommended that you arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight is due to depart. For flights within the EU, you should aim for 3 hours in advance and for long haul flights, 4 hours.
