Holiday Makers Contribute to Charity

Did you know that passengers travelling through Stansted Airport near the centre of London have raised over 500,000 pounds for worthy causes over the past decade?  Passing through the airport and generously donating spare cash or unused foreign currency in the special bins provided it has considerably boosted fundraising for charities close to Stansted Airport.

Donations to hundreds of worthy charities are decided by the Stansted Airport Passenger Community Fund (SAPCF) committee.   Robbie Barrigan, who is committee Chairman of the SAPCF, was concerned that when the Euro was introduced to more countries, there might be a drop in donations.  However that has not proved to be true, as passengers have continued to be just as generous.   This makes a real difference to all the local good causes which make annual requests to the SAPCF.  Also any airport staffs that fundraise for charities are given a fixed contribution of £150 which boosts and helps their causes considerably.

So remember when you are passing through airports, don’t forget that all the cash and notes collected are going to charitable groups within a 20 mile radius of Stansted Airport. After all, you probably won’t put those small odd coins in your purse again and you will forget to use them on your next holiday!

Don’t forget Stansted parking Airport has lots of parking spaces, so once parked you will have more time wander through the airport and check out the shopping and restaurant areas where the charity bins are situated.
