With two strikes already behind them, trade union Unite is said to be planning more in the future. With the British union having already called for action, more unions in Denmark, Norway and Sweden have also pledged strike action in sympathy with the cabin crew in the UK.
Additional strikes may start on the 14th April, although this has yet to be decided. The International Transport Worker’s Federation (ITF) commented “We and our members intend to resist what has come to look very much like an attempt to break the union.”
The sympathy strike action is intended to put even more pressure on British Airways to relent and scrap its proposed cut-backs in cabin crew working conditions and wages. Only time will tell is another strike goes ahead, but if it does the future looks grim for the weary traveler…
